RADIO HOST|DJ Created and hosted SUBSONIC which was the longest-running weekly electronic radio show in commercial radio history and aired every Saturday night on the Bay Area airwaves from 1996-2018! Aaron showcased and curated an eclectic mix of beats for the Bay, including EDM, drum & bass, future house, trap, downtempo, alt rock remixes, electro, glitch hop, synthpop and classic '90s electronica. The Bay Area was first introduced to Prodigy, Daft Punk, Calvin Harris, Chemical Brothers, M.I.A., Gorillaz, DJ Shadow, LCD Soundsystem, Armin Van Burren, Diplo, Steve Aoki, Basement Jaxx, Avicii, Swedish House Mafia, Zedd, Deadmau5, Sneaker Pimps and countless others compliments of Subsonic radio.
RADIO HOST|DJ Created and hosted seminal new music show SOUNDCHECK, which filled Bay Area homes for 21 years and aired every Sunday evening from 1999 to 2020. Many notable alternative artists made their U.S. commercial radio debuts on this influential Bay Area show— like The Killers, Muse, Lana Del Rey, Arcade Fire, Foster The People, Coldplay, Billie Eilish, The 1975, Strokes, Franz Ferdinand, Phoenix, Imagine Dragons, Twenty One Pilots, Lorde, Bastille, and many, many others.
CO-FOUNDER | RESIDENT DJ | TALENT BUYER for SF indie club institution Popscene, which has incredibly been throwing weekly parties in the city for over 20 years now and features DJ sets by Aaron & Omar Perez, plus showcases new up-and-coming talent. Popscene is famously known for being the club night that helped launched a thousand bands. Artists like The Killers, Amy Winehouse, Billie Eilish, Flume, Mumford and Sons, Arctic Monkeys, Sam Smith, Glass Animals, Katy Perry, Alt-J, Phoenix, Calvin Harris, Oh Wonder, Ellie Goulding, Muse, Vampire Weekend, Lily Allen, Dandy Warhols, The 1975, Maggie Rogers, etc, ALL made their SF debuts at Popscene (Friday’s @ Rickshaw Stop)
CLUB DJ Aaron has been a fixture in the SF club scene for years now, often opening up for artists at venues like Mezzanine, The Independent, Fox Theater, Rickshaw Stop and The Fillmore. He loves DJing corporate parties and has done so for YouTube, Google, SF Parks & Rec, SF City Hall AND has DJed many weddings, too. He’s been a regular DJ at Nightlife @ California Academy Of Sciences in Golden Gate Park, just landed a 2020 residency at SF’s The Battery and has DJed at Bay Area music festivals like Outside Lands, Treasure Island, BottleRock, Phono Del Sol and BFD.
GRAMMY COMMITTEE Aaron served as a member of the Grammy Alternative Selection committee from 2008-2016 @ the Recording Academy, Santa Monica
MUSIC FESTIVAL CURATOR Aaron was one of the primary forces and talent curators, along with Michael Martin, for iconic Bay Area music festivals BFD (1994-2018) -which used to kick-off summer at the Shoreline each June and annually draw 20,000 music fans- and legendary holiday arena concert NOT SO SILENT NIGHT (1997-2020) Axelsen also co-created and booked the talent for Live 105’s massive Halloween party SPOOKFEST from 2009-2015.
